Conservation

Specialist builders for listed buildings, we are passionate about conserving the built environment for future generations. We understand which materials and methods are appropriate for your heritage and conservation projects.

Working alongside professional stakeholders, clients and conservation officers, we preserve the historic fabric and architectural integrity of the buildings through careful and planned interventions. Using specialist craftsmen, matching our own exacting ethos for detailing, we can deliver this delicate, traditional work within a commercial framework for you.

We have been the conservation building contractor for numerous private dwellings and places of worship within the New Forest. As well as hotels such as the Manor at Sway and private educational centres, such as Farleigh School in Andover and Walhampton in Lymington.

Conservation - Church Lane

Church Lane

Church Lane is a sensitive, conservation-led renovation in the historic town of Lymington. The project involved a full internal refurbishment of a Grade II listed home and the addition of a new orangery extension
designed to complement its traditional character.

The interiors feature fine craftsmanship, with bespoke joinery and skirting seamlessly integrated into the existing fabric. The extension uses heritage materials such as clay tile hanging and timber detailing, with meticulous leadwork and timber-framed windows showcasing authentic workmanship.

Every element was carefully executed to preserve the building’s historic charm while enhancing modern comfort and functionality.

Conservation - Lane End

Lane End

Set in the heart of the New Forest, Lane End is a distinguished period home carefully upgraded to preserve its character while enhancing functionality. Tuakana replaced 35 original timber windows with high performance, traditionally styled units, improving comfort without compromising the property’s historic appearance. Works also included specialist lime render repairs and bespoke joinery to maintain architectural integrity. A detached outbuilding was refurbished to form a warm, practical home office, featuring new oak bi-fold doors and detailed timber craftsmanship.

Conservation - Millstone House

Millstone House

Set in the rolling Dorset countryside, Millstone House is a refined, interior-led renovation within a characterful period home. The project included a handcrafted timber kitchen, new timber flooring throughout, and a high-specification master ensuite. Every detail was thoughtfully designed to complement the rural setting, combining modern comfort with timeless appeal.

Conservation - Oakmere House

Oakmere House

Oakmere House is the fourth project completed for a longstanding client, following previous works including a glazed oak link and a detailed scullery refurbishment. This phase transformed a listed barn into a luxury wellness space with a swim spa, sauna, shower room, WC, and gym. The design balances modern functionality with historic character, featuring walk-on glazed floor panels revealing the original timber structure and curved cedar cladding that softens the form while complementing existing materials.

Executed with precision and sensitivity, the project continues a trusted and collaborative relationship built over multiple successful builds.
