Home Renovations - Forest House

Forest House

Set among the trees of the New Forest National Park, Forest House is a mid-century home thoughtfully extended and renovated to bring new life and warmth to the original structure. Designed by The Vawdrey
House, the project features bespoke joinery, rich timber finishes, and a generous open-plan living space centred around a feature fireplace and custom-built oak kitchen. Each bedroom and bathroom was
individually crafted, reflecting seamless collaboration between architecture, interiors, and construction. The result is a calm, expressive home that blends effortlessly with its surroundings. A level of refinement recognised by its feature in Living Etc magazine.

Freshfield

Freshfield

Located in the seaside village of Milford on Sea, this large-scale project involved a full refurbishment to both the interior and exterior of the property, including an extensive landscaping scheme. The art deco influence was at the forefront of the external façade and detailing. The internal works consisted of a large open plan kitchen dining area, a spacious hall with a bespoke staircase and timber panelling. Individually designed bathrooms were finished to a very high standard including detailed herringbone wall tiling and art deco inspired wall papering.

Forest Cottage

Forest Cottage is a distinctive renovation in the heart of the New Forest. Following PAD Studio’s restoration of a former water tower, Tuakana were appointed to renovate the adjoining single-storey buildings. Working closely with PAD Studio, Tuakana transformed the spaces into refined living areas with high-quality finishes that complement the tower’s character. Centred around a landscaped courtyard, the home now enjoys a seamless connection to its natural surroundings.

The project reimagined the main living spaces, introducing extensive glazing, sliding doors, and rooflights to connect the home with its garden. Timber cladding, zinc detailing, and bespoke interiors create a refined, modern family space that balances light, practicality, and comfort.

A full renovation and sensitive remodelling of a period family home in one of the New Forest’s most soughtafter coastal hamlets. Designed by Sutters Architecture and delivered by Tuakana, the project modernised the property while preserving its historic charm. Works included extensive internal refurbishment, reconfigured layouts, high-spec finishes, and a self-contained pool house offering flexible guest or
workspace accommodation. With gardens reimagined by Saltmarsh Garden Design, the result is a timeless and elegant family home that blends traditional character with contemporary comfort.

Aldermoor

This traditional Victorian, red brick property borders the open Forest on the outskirts of Brockenhurst, the project involved the addition of two new extensions which referenced the period features of the main property. In addition to the extensions, the interior underwent a full refurbishment, including a traditional hand built painted kitchen, bespoke bathrooms finished to a high standard.

Utilising the fantastic ideas from our client to create an imaginative and extremely successful makeover of this New Forest property. Refurbishment works in this Hampshire home included roof alterations, new slate roof covering, Marley Cedral Weatherboard cladding and zinc guttering.

Shirley Down​

Shirley Down

Working on this early 20th century property in Hampshire, we added a contemporary light filled extension to create an open plan kitchen and living space. Careful design and exacting products, coupled with that back-drop, ensure the spacious areas ooze quality; German made Kitchen from Dream Design, Sunfold Bi-folding doors and lantern. Utilising natural materials such as sandstone and timber sleepers we created a large, raised terrace area that takes full advantage of the valley vista.

Design and build project to extend and refurbish this Victorian detached Lymington property. A beautiful, vaulted and light filled kitchen living space was created whilst also accommodating a cosy snug area within the core of the house. Other works included new flooring, landscaping, decorating, lime mortar pointing and zinc guttering.

Horseshoe Cottage

Horseshoe Cottage

6 month project to renovate, extend and restyle a 300 year old clay cob cottage. Existing extensions were reconfigured to completely change the flow and feel of the internal layout. Within the grounds two oak frame buildings were constructed using oak cladding and handmade Tudor clay tiles for the roof. To finish the project we laid a shingle and block paved driveway, arched gates within a new perimeter brick wall, electric vehicular gates, turf, brick patio and paving within the garden.

Structural works to open up a kitchen & family room. Creating a light and spacious kitchen area which opens up on to the large garden.

Heywood House

Repeat projects including refurbishment of the kitchen, bathrooms, utilities & heating system, and most notably the addition of a large orangery to the rear of the house. The structural changes to the house have created a real “wow” space in what were otherwise quite dark rooms with no outlook.
